Pia
McKenna
Local artist,
Pia McKenna, was born in Kentfield and now lives in Santa Rosa,
CA. She has always had a creative side, which she expresses in various
mediums: needlepoint, collage, pen & ink and the beauty of calligraphy
with its embellishments.
Recently she has concentrated on painting in watercolor,
is active in local groups of plein air painters and is a member
of WASCO (Watercolor Artists of Sonoma County). Her greatest pleasure
is painting in plein air with groups such as, Monday Morning Painters
and in the past The Laguna School of Painters. It was with The Laguna
School of Painters that she embraced the love of nature and the
responsibility for our environment.
Pia’s paintings have received numerous awards
at local fairs and she has exhibited her works in various shows
in Sonoma County including the Sonoma County Fair, Sonoma County
Harvest Fair, Laguna Art Show, Kendall-Jackson Tomato Festival,
Aqua Areas Exhibitions, Plaza Arts Gallery: Artists Showcase, Trentadue
Winery, and Gualala Art Show. Currently she has included design,
specifically, Celtic knots, into her more controlled compositions.
May you find in her paintings something that triggers
a feeling, a memory or a shared place of beauty.
