"Art
has always been a part of my life. In the last several years, however,
I have realized that the creative process is a spiritual path for
me. Creating art leads me into a space and time that is as infinite
as it is beautiful. Each of my pieces starts from a place deep inside
of me--a thought, an idea, an image--that begs to be translated
into something to be kinesthetically and visually experienced as
well as shared with others.
My most recent
work is with watercolor. As I navigate the perilous waters of this
aqua-media, I am learning about color (and surprises), control (or
the lack thereof), holding onto (and letting go of) preconceptions.
I am learning to balance spontaneity with commitment to the artistic
life. And I am learning about commitment to the artistic life. Creating
the door and allowing it to be open as the work flows through is
indeed the challenge.
I love painting
plen-aire and am constantly inspired by the awesome world we live
in, particularly in Sonoma County. I have also worked in clay, painting-primarily
water media, multi-media constructions, movement, poetry, music,
photography and group process.
In addition
to making my own art, I facilitate classes for those wishing to
explore the mythic journey of art, and for health care personnel
who wish to explore alternative healing, expressive art and integrative
health. I am a Hospice Nurse, and have been a childbirth educator,
OB Nurse and Interior Designer. My family includes two young men
(in college) and two young women (in high school) as well as a supportive
partner. They inspire me to continue in the creative life, just
as I hope to encourage each of them to follow their own path."
